A Current - Mode 64 × 1 Programmable Gabor Filter for Early Vision Systems

چکیده
This paper presents a current-mode 64 × 1 early vision chip, including integrated photodiodes and a programmable “perceptual engine”, which can implement various perceptual algorithms, such as Gabor filters. The proposed chip can be used for early vision tasks as edge detection, texture analysis, depth estimation and motion analysis. The perceptual engine exploits the properties of MOS transistors to achieve widely programmable coefficients for the distributed lattice network which implements the perceptual operators. The 8.9 × 1.8 mm 2 chip, fabricated in a conventional 0.8 μ m CMOS process, consumes 56 mW from a 5 V supply.

Design and Implementation of an Accelerated Gabor Filter Bank Using Parallel Hardware
In computer vision, images are often preprocessed by the so-called Gabor transform. Using a Gabor filter bank, an image can be decomposed into orientational components lying in a specified frequency range. This biologically motivated decomposition simplifies higher level image processing like extraction of contours or pattern recognition. However, the IEEE floating-point implementation of this ...

Door access control systems based on face recognition are geared towards simplifying difficult face recognition problems in uncontrolled environments. Such systems are able to control illumination, offer neutral pose and improve the poor performance of many face recognition algorithms. Door access control systems control illumination and pose in order to overcome face recognition problems. Whil...
متن کاملRobust method for texture synthesis-by-analysis based on a multiscale Gabor scheme
We propose a new texture synthesis-by-analysis method inspired by current models of biological early vision and based on a multiscale Gabor scheme. The analysis stage starts with a log-polar sampling of the estimated power spectral density of the texture by a set of 4x4 Gabor filters, plus a low-pass residual (LPR). Then, for each channel, we compute its energy and its two (X,Y) bandwidths. The...
متن کاملImplementing Cepstral Filtering Technique using Gabor Filters
Cepstral filtering technique is applied on an interlaced image, the pattern similar to that which is found in layer IV of Primate Visual Cortex. Unless the signals from left and right eyes are placed simultaneously, the disparity cannot be detected. Therefore, it has a great significance in the sphere of stereo vision. It involves Power spectrum in computation, which is square of absolute of Fa...
متن کاملMulti-View Face Detection in Open Environments using Gabor Features and Neural Networks
Multi-view face detection in open environments is a challenging task, due to the wide variations in illumination, face appearances and occlusion. In this paper, a robust method for multi-view face detection in open environments, using a combination of Gabor features and neural networks, is presented. Firstly, the effect of changing the Gabor filter parameters (orientation, frequency, standard d...
